Press Release

New podcast, hosted and distributed by Acast, debuts with President Obama discussing his NCAA March Madness bracket selections

Higher Ground, President Barack Obama and Michelle Obama’s media company, today launched the Ways to Win podcast. Hosted by Executive Director of the NABC Craig Robinson and Head Coach of Kentucky Men’s Basketball John Calipari, Ways to Win kicks off with President Obama as the first guest, discussing his bracket selections and more. Acast, the world’s largest independent podcast company, is hosting and distributing the podcast.

“We are thrilled to have President Obama as the first guest on our new show Ways to Win. As March Madness tips off, it’s great to have him on to discuss his picks, leadership, and the role sports has played in his own life,” said Head of Audio for Higher Ground Dan Fierman. “With Craig and Cal, a powerhouse duo of coaching and basketball knowledge, we are excited to give fans an opportunity to go inside the tournament. And after the tournament, the podcast will adapt to a broader range of topics as these two coaches share their insights across sports, entrepreneurship, and business with guests who excel in their respective fields.”

"Whenever I get the opportunity to speak with Coach Cal, I leave the conversation with new wisdom and inspiration. I'm so excited to share some of that wisdom with Ways to Win," said Coach Robinson. "Whether talking basketball, our strategies for solving problems, or lessons we've learned during our careers, we're going to welcome listeners into some truly empowering and fun conversations."

Winning is an everyday mindset, and the coaches are here to help. Each week on Ways to Win, Coaches Craig Robinson and John Calipari use their on-court wisdom to solve off-court problems. Whether it’s trouble at home or a workplace dilemma, Craig and Cal will share insights to build a winning formula for success. The coaches will also talk to prominent athletes, business leaders, and celebrities to reveal the insights that made them the leaders they are today.

The show begins with a mini-series during March Madness, one of the biggest sporting events of the year. Last year, an estimated 56.3 million US adults filled out a bracket to predict the ultimate winner of the March Madness tournament and an average of 10 million TV viewers tuned into the games. This year, during each week of the tournament, audiences can listen to Coach Cal and Craig Robinson discuss everything from the bracket busters to the Cinderella stories and buzzer beaters. With Cal’s Kentucky Wildcats in the hunt, Craig will dial-up the hall-of-fame coach to learn all about the wins, losses, and lessons along the way. At the conclusion of the March Madness tournament, Ways to Win will continue in the spring as a sports, leadership, and business podcast.

“March Madness doesn’t truly begin until we have President Obama’s bracket. To incorporate that beloved tradition into the first episode of Ways to Win speaks to the incredible storytelling minds and talent available with the Higher Ground team,” said Acast Managing Director for the US Tiffany Ashitey. “As perhaps the most heavily spent month in sports for brands, at Acast we immediately knew the value of this content and its anticipated audiences for advertisers. With multiple sponsorships already sold by Acast, we expect both the show to appeal to a broad range of advertisers and listeners.”
