Acast Podcasts Drive Record-Breaking Support for Doctors Without Borders
As war and humanitarian crises remain an everyday reality for millions, the demand for medical assistance continues to escalate. In response to this urgent need, podcast company Acast has partnered with Doctors Without Borders in a pro bono initiative to bolster the organization’s vital work.
By collaborating with selected podcast creators within Acast’s major network and amplifying their message through host-read sponsorships to hundreds of thousands of listeners, the campaign has gained significant public support. The result? A record-breaking number of signatures backing Doctors Without Borders’ mission.
“The response to the petition has been extraordinary. We have already collected over 50,000 signatures, setting a new record for Doctors Without Borders in Sweden. During the sponsorship period, we observed a marked increase in the number of signatures. The campaign will continue into the spring, and we are hopeful that the ongoing engagement of podcast creators and their audiences will urge the Swedish government to act decisively to ensure that healthcare is never a target in conflicts or wars,” said Lena Telander, Marketing Project Manager at Doctors Without Borders.
Participating podcasts in the campaign include:
- Spöktimmen: Sweden’s leading podcast on true crime and mysterious phenomena, hosted by Linn Ek and Jenny Borg.
- Tabberaset: A lifestyle podcast blending candid chats about life, hosted by Frida Lund and Klara Doktorow.
- Flashback Forever: A comedy podcast featuring Emma Knyckare, Ina Lundström, and Mia Gruffman Cruse.
“It is incredibly rewarding as podcast creators to use our platform and reach to support the invaluable work of Doctors Without Borders. What makes it even more inspiring is seeing how engaged our listeners have been, helping to achieve these record-breaking results,” said Klara Doktorow and Frida Lund of Tabberaset. Minna Brandt, Nordic Podcast Planning Director at Acast, adds: "It is truly uplifting to see the power of podcasts as a media channel – with their unique ability to foster strong connections between creators and listeners – and how this results in exceptional impact and conversion." At the outset of 2025, additional podcasts within Acast’s network are set to join the initiative, broadening the campaign’s reach and impact. The total value of the sponsorships campaign is estimated to be 800,000 SEK.
